Our elected representatives owe their loyalty to us, not to their political parties.
The excessive loyalty that members of Congress give their parties, and the excessive power that parties have over our electoral and legislative systems, have led us to a stalemate. Our elected officials consistently fail to address the most pressing issues facing our nation. And when we act as partisans ourselves, we are not holding them accountable.
